Hope remains the impregnable fortress for the dreams of the oppressed, and without that glimmer of hope, the banner of freedom would never have been raised. Hope resided within every Syrian, granting them an unseen strength that revived a broken heart. Today, Syrians commemorate the demise of tyranny and the flight of its pillars. The wisdom we accept is that we stand at a historical turning point, and we Syrians must prove ourselves capable of transforming the stupor that gripped us into life and civilization. The Syria of history yearns to return as its people desire. Today, a year after the end of oppression and injustice, we must begin building our nation under the rule of law and raise our resounding cry: This is the Syria of antiquity, the land of civilization, the Syria that taught humanity to write, not the Syria of oppression and injustice. Long live Syria, free, pure, safe, and independent, under the banner of its people.
